Fluffy Hemstitched Baby Blanket

I love this!
It looks like it would be difficult, but it isn't hard at all.

First you will need a hemstitched blanket.

Next you need a ball of this fluffy yarn.

You will do a single crochet stitch all around the blanket.
That's it!
Finished!

I like this tutorial on  the single crochet stich, but there are many instructions out there,
so find one you are comfortable with.

my new fav

One might say that I'm obsessed with Jello.
Hey, I'm from Utah, what do you expect?
I have been making these cute little jello cups obsessively for the past
few weeks. I even switched to the sugar free version.
It really is a Delicious snack.
Tomorrow I am going to try lemon jello with shredded carrots.

YUM

Peach with peaches, of course.

Lime with pears

For some unknown reason the strawberries taste better if I chop them.

What's your favorite?
I'm open for suggestions.

I just had a GRAND idea...
How about a Jello diet!

Just a thought

"There would be less suffering in this world if
humanity would learn this one truth:
It is not what we receive but what we give that heals us."
 - Richard Paul Evans

Even though it has rained for many days and weeks,
the lilacs are out in all their splendor.
Maybe we'll have a spring after all.
Happy Friday

Quilt Market

I had the opportunity to go to
"Quilt Market"
in Salt Lake City this past week.
It was fabulous.

I have a friend from Ohio who owns a quilt store.
She was in town for the market and brought me this awesome bag

It is made with "Sunkissed" by Sweetwater
and I LOVE it.

Anything  by Moda was my favorite

Another favorite was Sarah Jane
Her stuff is the cutest!

I also fell in love with Riley Blake
I didn't see a fabric I didn't like.

Now, if only I could sew.

Frosted Banana Bars

One of my favorite recipes.
Easy and delicious.

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1-1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
Dash salt

FROSTING:
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup butter, softened
4 cups confectioners' sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, bananas and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into creamed mixture just until blended.
Transfer to a greased 15-in. x 10-in. x 1-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack.
For frosting, in a small bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Add confectioners' sugar and vanilla; beat until smooth. Frost bars. Yield: 3 dozen.

Family Night

I have always been a firm believer of family night.
We have tried to be diligent in having family night.
It hasn't always been perfect, in fact some times it has been opposite.
Sometimes I wonder why we even try.
It seems like some of our greatest family fights have been held
on Monday night.
Even so I keep coming back to the promises made...
“If the Saints obey this counsel [to hold family home evening], we promise that great blessings will result. Love at home and obedience to parents will increase. Faith will be developed in the hearts of the youth of Israel, and they will gain power to combat the evil influences and temptations which beset them” ~ The First Presidency 1915

Some pictures from this past family night...

Family home evening is part of the Lord’s plan to help us return to Him. It is a time set aside for us to teach our children the principles of the gospel and to help our families draw closer in love and understanding. These times together can help us strengthen our family and teach us how to live together in greater love and harmony. Our family members will thus be better able to
combat the influences of evil in the world.

Come what may and love it.

"...the dial on the wheel of sorrow eventually points to each of us. At one time or another, everyone must experience sorrow. No one is exempt . . . Learning to endure times of disappointment, suffering, and sorrow is part of our on-the-job training. These experiences, while often difficult to bear at the time, are precisely the kinds of experiences that stretch our understanding, build our character, and increase our compassion for others . . . The Lord compensates the faithful for every loss. That which is taken away from those who love the Lord will be added unto them in His own way. While it may not come at the time we desire, the faithful will know that every tear today will eventually be returned a hundredfold with tears of rejoicing and gratitude." - Joseph B. Wirthlin

I love this talk by Joseph B. Wirthlin
Today marks 9 months to the day that the dial on that wheel
pointed toward me.
I miss Kristen more and more every single day.

Easter Tree

We had this rather large flood last year and most of my Easter stuff was ruined.
I decided to make a cute tree for my table.
I think I made it more work that it needed to be.
I do love it!
I started with some plastic eggs.
I wanted the eggs to look more like real eggs so I painted them.
The pink and purple ones were a little brighter than I wanted.
After I painted them I specked them and that seemed to tone down the brightness.

Next I glued them on a styrofoam tree.
I put all the points of the eggs up and put them all on the same slant.

Next I filled in with some green spanish moss.

Just what my kitchen needed.
